Re: Benefits of CA RE License?

Out of curiosity I took the CA RE license exam on a whim about 10 years ago. Studied nothing and passed. It's a bunch of weird archaic questions, that if you have decent test taking skills can likely make it through.

I was having similar [more]

Re: Engineers dominate early retirement group

In my case I have been working at the same company for the past ~18 years. I started as a new grad with the long term goal of retiring early. I've moved up the career ladder and now manage a dept of ~20 mechanical engineers at about 5X my original [more]

Interesting discussion. I'm an engineer, 41 years old, and "retiring" later this year. I'm married with a stay at home mom with 2 kids in elementary school. Perhaps that's why I couldn't retire in my 30's.

Math is likely a big part [more]

We do need to get back to the pension system, utilizing features in the 401(k) program, and make it open it to the marketplace.

Yes, you have to wait until age 65. I may not want to wait that long. One has access to a 401k at age 59.5.
