Re: Cost Basis for Reinvested Div.

Re: cancel or not

Keeping them open is likely to be better for your credit rating. Their available credit is included in your overall credit usage rate, but high utilization of any credit card could outweigh any improvement in lowering the overall usage.

VFIAX is a mutual fund. What type of cost basis did you choose: average share price, FIFO, or specified lots?

If it is held directly with Vanguard, Vanguard has started to issue 1099s. You should check the 1099. Also, check your account for [more]

Re: Aren't 1099 supposed to be done by now?

The requirement to issue 1099s by end of January was causing a large number of corrected 1099s to be issued. Being forced to meet a filing deadline without time to obtain the information wasn't working.

Last year I did not receive a [more]

Buying directly from the vendor is often more expensive because they can charge more to those who don't bother to do price comparisons. It isn't only Turbo Tax. When we were using Symantec antivirus, it was much cheaper through Amazon. Quicken [more]

Re: RMD for IRA and 401(k)

If a 401K plan allows deferring withdrawals while you are still employed, it is likely that the employment must be with that employer.

Although legal, don't expect that a previous employer's 401K plan will defer RMDs because of a job with a [more]
