Chip Card Problems?

Chip cards are not new to the rest of the world. Any ideas as to why there is so many problems implementing their usage in the US?

We used a chip enabled card for a week and half while we were out of the country. There never was a problem. [more]

I am going to continue to use cash at gas stations, and I don't trust using debit cards anywhere.

The cheaper gas station near us doesn't take credit cards.
