Agreed.  No one belongs in bonds unless they can just invest enough directly in bonds to disversify on their own and hold for the term.  That at least prevents the devastation you describe that bond funds cause but right

Unexpected Roadblock for Individual Insurance

The bottom line is that the insurers all cherry pick.  Competition in a free market naturally requires them to do this.  The ACA limits this so that some lower risk people will now pay more and other higher risk

Is Apple Inc. Headed To New All Time Highs?

I have a simpler approach.  Buy AAPL a 86 and hold.  I only wish I had bought more than 200 shares.  But I have seen it go from no dividends to a reliable stream of dividends.

Average Joe Really Did learn His Lesson

Yes baby boomers are retiring but bond yields are so poor that now really is a bad time to buy.  Despite the risks dividend paying stocks may still be a better bet.  But I agree IPOs seem to be mostly hype.
