Re: So far, I've been wrong on interest rates

This simple mind thinks that unless the money is 'returned' to the Fed somehow there will be inflation of some sort. Simple mind, though.

Re: OT: NYC Stuff - and an educational rant

When my daughter entered elementary school she could read very well. We had high hopes. I asked the Principal if there was a program that would help her continue on the fast track of learning. "We don't favor one student over another," is [more]

Pat Robertson's Regent Univ.

I wonder if any of you can guide me to unbiased information about Pat Robertson's Regent University. I know someone thinking about going there and I'm concerned that she get a good education.
Thanks.

Re: The Great Gulf

What we need is more cops on the street... with body armor and surplus military equipment... get tough on crime... three strikes, you're out.

That'll fix things.

Maybe also a "war on" something.

Re: Christian nation

Today, Jesus would be called a liberal trouble maker; turning over the money changer's tables, healing the lepers, feeding the poor. Poor guy would be zapped with a taser.

Re: restore rubber printer rollers

Thanks for finding that video, NoMoney. My printer's rubber wheel is solid and rotates completely, so there's no fresh rubber area on it. I think I'm stuck with the eraser fix for now. I appreciate your help!

Re: restore rubber printer rollers

Nomoney,
Thanks for the explanation but I don't think I get what you're saying with, "rotate that old paper feed roller on its fixing bar, and when refixed in position, after giving it a half-turn, then there was a new strip of rubber [more]

Re: Please Shut Cheney Up, please

Pigs are, indeed, flying. Wow.

Always follow the money. A great way to get money is saddle someone, or some government, with debt. That enslaves the populace. I think that's what's been happening for some time now. What better way to get [more]

Re: restore rubber printer rollers

I guess I'm kind of stubborn when it comes to throwing out things that may only need a little repair. But point of diminishing returns arrives pretty quickly. So, I wedged a pencil eraser in to tighten the pick up roller as the paper passes [more]

Re: Carpet Cleaning

Frankly, I'm not sure carpet cleaners really clean carpets. Sure, they take out some surface dirt, but have you ever seen what's beneath a carpet? Yeesh...

I've done a few rental machine jobs. The results look good for a little while, but if [more]

Re: restore rubber printer rollers

I searched ebay to no avail. It seems this printer is considered old. Eight years old is young! But I may have to go to some extremes to 'fix' it, like wedge an eraser in there. Not a very elegant solution.

Re: restore rubber printer rollers

I tried the sandpaper bit. It rubbed off some black but gave it no more traction. I turned the printer all around and found four screws that only removed the side panels. No access granted to the guts where the roller resides.

Funny, I did [more]

Re: restore rubber printer rollers

Like the proverbial monkey on a football, I've been turning the printer over and looking into slots. I discovered a take up roller that feeds the paper to the bar or rollers. It's not taking up the paper. But... when the monkey puts a letter opener [more]

Thanks for the isopropyl alcohol suggestion. I tried that and it worked for a while, then stopped. Will a solvent, like acetone or mineral spirits work? Sandpaper?

restore rubber printer rollers

My old printer won't drag the paper in, or it will drag it in too late for the printing to align with the paper. Also, thicker label paper is problematic. Suspect; the rollers. Does anyone know of a way to revitalize the printer rollers so they grip [more]
