Re: tax help (again)

Something like that would be complicated and therefore costly even for an experienced tax preparer and probably wouldn't be much more to have the CPA do the whole return. It might be to your advantage to do so for 2017 to see how it works [more]

Re: Homemade Cottage Cheese

Mascarpone is one of my favorites to make, although it's been a while since I've done it. I also made a soft cheese from soy milk on a challenge last fall and one of my vegan friends now makes it regularly.

Re: dispose of unwanted drugs Saturday

Since the unwanted drugs are destroyed, I just dump all of them - prescription and over the counter - into a zip lock bag and drop them off. I don't leave them in the original containers. They haven't been rejected when I've done this.

Re: Furnace/AC

Thanks,

I've known that at some point the Freon problem would come up so that's pretty much a no brainer. The system tests very low on refrigerant.

While I'm not planning to sell anytime soon, I'd probably have to [more]

Furnace/AC

Looks like I'm going to have to replace my 26 year old furnace and central air conditioner. Cost of needed repairs comes to about $2100. Cost of original units works out to about $120 a year, so I definitely got my money's worth out of them.

Re: Thought for today

Now would a hospital actually discharge someone with a stable broken arm without a cast is a different discussion.

I was discharged from the ER of an Oregon hospital on 2/1/2018 with a fracture of upper right arm with only a sling. [more]

Multiple Years

Dear Procrastinators:

If you haven't filed your taxes since 2012 why is it urgent that you file them all today? Do you really have all your paperwork? If you don't, I'll refer you to a year round office next week.

I agree you probably should go to a professional for this. I've been dealing with this type of stuff for the last couple weeks and it's a nightmare, especially with the client that moved back in to the rental for two years before he sold it [more]

Re: Why some are going without Health Insurance

At 3 months into 2018, my medical expenses would already be more than $20,000 for the year if I didn't have insurance. With insurance, they are about $6,000 out of pocket. Granted this is a data point of one, but I wouldn't want to be [more]

Wendy,

The initial premiums and subsidy are reported to you on form 1095A. It is reconciled on from 8962 to determine what has to be paid back. Form 8962 Part 3 Line 29 carries to your 1040 line 46 which is where it's paid back on your [more]
