Re: listening to the radio on an iPhone/iPad

I have essentially no knowledge of iOS, but for Android I know that a lot of apps can be told to use data only when wifi is active - and it's even possible to get tools to completely turn off cellular *data* (leaving phone and pure-text messages [more]

Re: The "Recovery" and forced retireme

there was an extra line for some reason between 1976 and 1977.

That was a "one quarter" short fiscal year when the US government switched from a June 30 year end to the current Sept 30 year end.

was thinking of solar water heat for the swimming pool, me

Floating pool covers work quite well for that.

My in-laws kept such a cover on their pool for years. It would heat the pool to 90 or so in the summer. And it cut [more]

Sounds like Revo is the [almost] unanimous recommendation. I think I'll give the Pro version a trial. I really want the monitored installation feature.

I'm going to be looking at demos of a number of tax prep programs soon. I'd like to be able to uninstall them cleanly and completely. I don't trust their uninstall utilities to do a good job, and the Windows add/remove programs leaves things behind [more]

How much are your taxes and what state are you in?

I just went and looked at the actual bill. My usage charges were $21, taxes were $2.07. I'm in California. $0.76 of those taxes went to my city. (So I remembered incorrectly. The [more]

Re: rich man making sense

Currently the federal min is 7.25.

If the min is raised to 12 what happens to the wages of those making more than 7.25 but less than 12. Do they just go to 12?

Yes. That's how a minimum wage works. It's like, you know, the [more]

Re: rich man making sense

Sounds great until you realize that in about 18 months the costs of paying that extra payroll would metabolize into higher costs for goods and services. Thus putting min-wage workers right back where they'd started.

Re: Flooring options w/concrete

I would avoid tile and traditional wood flooring. Both of those will be fairly thick and leave you with a significant transition to the concrete.
