Re: Amazon's Fire TV

Which is the one reason I can't see Comcast or any other wireline provider letting them into the cash stream.
Yes I agree it's a longish shot, but would be great if it could happen.

Re: Amazon's Fire TV

I think Apple would have a quick win if they merely came out with a system that truly integrated all the remote controls into one. I think I have four of them now, for my TV, DVD, Sky set-top box and VCR. All are cryptic with tiny buttons that [more]

Look at CarPlay also, Apple was able to deliver CarPlay capabilities to 200 million iPhones in one simple software upgrade. Google simply cannot do that with Android. Same story with iBeacon, hundreds of millions of devices can use iBeacon now, if [more]

Re: 20% CAGR since '74 with sharpe>S&P

It's not that new screens are totally ignored (improvements are suggested, for example) but we seem to feel we're doing 'well enough' with our present screens.
That's likely it. In my case I've run with a fairly simple blend of 2-3 [more]

Re: TV shrinkage - PC market redux

Admittedly a number of folks in this board were there first, but increasingly it seems as though it makes sense to look at 'screens' rather than smartphones, tablets, notebooks, PCs & TVs (and possibly a few more). With all the cross-overs (are [more]

It's not referenced in the article you quoted, but if you absolutely have to work on-line before the (pretty trivial) fix is issued for OS X 10.9, neither Chrome or Firefox appear to be affected by this issue as both use their own open source SSL / [more]

Re: Where to get "installed base" stats?

I can't answer your question, however that article is pretty flawed as it appears to compare the US installed base & sales data to the worldwide total sales share (which is where the 80% numbers typically are measured).
