Re: 401k match

Well I always contribute between 300-400 a week. So basically the new potential employer is contributing 4% of my gross and my current employer is contributing 13% of my gross. Hypothetically if I'm grossing 2,500 and and contributing $400 a week I [more]

401k match

I'm a little confused. My current employer contributes 13% of my gross to my 401k. An employer I'm thinking about going to states thier match in these terms.

Match 100% up to 3%, plus .5 for 4%, plus .5 for 5%( total maximum match [more]

Pension

I've 17 years in my union and I'm vested meaning I will be able to collect my pension at 62( I think). The current payout is $85 per year of service so if I leave the union now I will be able to collect about $1445 a month. So if I decide to leave [more]

Re: Pension

Well I went to mercer my 401k account and my contribution year to date have been $4,400 and my employer has contributed $3,000. Safe to say much more than 4%. Pretty sad I don't even know the contribution % of my employer

Re: Pension

I'm not. Just saying I get a 401k with a 50% match and the non Union said 4%. 4% is really low for a match isn't it? Thanks

Re: Pension

Also, the non Union shop said they will match up to 4%. That's not good I believe.

Pension

Sorry, I've been looking at the other topics and could not decide where to post this. I currently have a dilemma. I'm in the Union and it has a pension plan. I believe it's about $35 per year of service and that becomes your monthly pension. I've [more]

Income Tax Rate

Trying to look at my investments and the tax implications in the future and now Is there a way to gauge which tax bracket I'll be in when I retire in about 15-20 years? I guess this is more important for IRA's. Is there a rule of thumb for [more]

Roth IRA limit

I make over $129,000 a year and don't file jointly with my wife. If we were to file jointly it would not bring us over the $191,000 limit.

From what I understand I'm not allowed to contribute to a Roth. I've an auto investment weekly that [more]

Re: Early retirementWithdrawals from where

Still a little unclear. So what are the penalties of tapping a 401k prior to age 55? If you start withdrawing at age 50 what happens? Do you just get taxed? Thanks

Early retirementWithdrawals from where

I read a lot about approx 4% withdrawal from retiremen accounts. Whatever the % is that one would need where does that money come from? Wouldn't you get Penalized taking from your 401k before a certain age? What is 90% of your money is in a 401k?
