Re: Music macro trends

I think iTunes has a category you missed.
Not surprising... I don't own a single Apple device of any sort. I may get an iPhone when my current Droid gives out, but only because my parents and siblings all have iOS devices, and there is no [more]

Re: Music macro trends

I'm surprised cassettes sold for as long as that chart shows.
Think of all the cars sold with tape decks before CD players were effectively miniaturized.

Re: Music macro trends

what do you think this means?
Older folks don't care for the crap being mass produced these days, while younger folks aren't willing to pay for it.

I could propose the theory that people now are more visually oriented than in [more]

Re: Exploding Floodlights

Entirely possible... we've got floods up on our office roof which have shown a tendency to blast the front lens off, even though the rest of the parabolic "shell" and the bulb itself remain intact and perfectly functional.

Re: Bombshell News from Evans-Pritchard

I'm beginning to think this whole thing is going to result in some very painful examinations of the Greek system as a whole... I've seen it become something of a running joke on METAR about how tax avoidance and grifting the system has become [more]

Re: Ex-Im bank will expire

Corporate personhood is a legal fallacy that really should have never been created in the first place. Honestly, if I said, for example, "I'm going to go on a date with Playtex, but what I really dream of is having wild and kinky sex with [more]

Thing is, such an amendment has to be approved by large majorities in both houses, and they would be cutting off their best means of stuffing their pockets with loot and nutter votes.

Or enough states (34 at present) get ticked off [more]

Re: Ode to Electricity

Most of all, thanks OHIO and other states that sent electrical repair trucks our way.

You're welcome. Felt like we borrowed maybe half the nation's electric crews after the derecho we got back in 2012.

Re: Pixels

I've seen ads/trailers for it... looks to be one of those movies where if you try to pick it apart in some kind of misguided attempt to make sense of it, you'll hate it. But if you take it for what it is, it'll be awesome.

Re: Android-Java question

Technically (which means: you don't really need to know this), Java would run on Android - except it doesn't, because Sun (which owns Java) would neither fix Java's security holes to Google's satisfaction nor give Google access to the code they [more]

Re: Just curious

Earlier in this thread it was stated that XP can only use about 3GB of RAM, so installing any more would be useless. Theoretically, wouldn't that extra GB of RAM be utilized by the graphic card at times of need?

You'd hope, but no. [more]

Two years ago, I paid $550 for the inspection on the house I bought, broken down as
$335 - General inspection
$150 - Radon lab
$65 - Wood eating insect inspection

At least among the folks I know, there's a fair bit of argument on [more]
