Mark Melin

Starting as an industry practitioner, I operated a hedge fund that trades along the US yield curve. In addition, I have worked as a consultant to a derivatives exchange, where I worked with a former CFTC Chairman, taught derivatives at Northwestern University as an adjunct instructor, wrote three books (two on derivatives, one on intelligent computer-based marketing systems) and currently edit a publication on algorithmic trading and investing strategies. My hallmark is strong experience in the derivatives markets, algorithmic trading, computer-based artificial intelligence, alternative investing methods, analysis of hedge fund strategies, economic issues, government debt, budget issues and regulation of the financial services industry. While all this may sound sophisticated and complicated, when investors can understand the basic concepts it could make their risk management more precise and their investing experience more rewarding.

Favorite Music or Musicians:
My hobby is trying to see new bands at small venues who have potential to become mainstream acts. Currently on my watch list is Atlas Genius, Tegan and Sarah and Youngblood Hawke. In the past I've seen Amos Lee, Imagine Dragons among others before they achieved a degree of fame. This strategy has a low win percentage, but is fun even when I don't succeed.
