The problem with picking a bottom is that the stock may stay there. Stocks tend to trend, so you should follow the trends.

There was an athlete, a basketball player, who was a vegan. I do not remember his name. He got very sick from a lack of B12, because he did not take vitamins. That was several years ago.

Just about every stock is a buy at some time and a sell at some other time. Learn how to trade. That means buying into a stock when it begins to move up and getting out when it begins to tank.

Rather than keep the same amount in each stock, maybe you should consider keeping the same percent in each stock. Hopefully you will make money, so you should either increase the amount in each stock or add another stock.

No, IGU, I have never done anything that stupid. Not that I have made money on every trade, but I have never let a huge gain turn to a loss.

Some people put in stops, which helps. I just use "mental stops", and watch the trade [more]

I have never seen the point in asset allocation. You need to be in the assets that are the strongest, and move out of them as they begin to stall out. Then move into whatever else, if anything, that is moving up.

I do not know how you will know when the stocks have bottomed, assuming the market goes down when you expect it to do so.

Well, I have had the right knee replaced. Every time the left knee hurts a bit, I just tell it that it can be replaced, and it suddenly gets better. Just a bit of negative re-enforcement.
