Re: 401k to IRA?

I see no reason to pay taxes until you have to.

So far as a transfer to an IRA, you may find (depending on the terms of the 401K) that you have more flexibility in an IRA. That is, more investment vehicles, such as individual stocks. That [more]

Re: IRA vs Mutual Funds

Well, first of all, you should fund your IRA fully. Where the money comes from is another question. Your IRA will grow tax-free until you retire and start taking money out.

So you can sell those mutual funds and put the money in an IRA if [more]

Re: Taking profits fithout selling stocks

Selling covered calls is often an easy way of making some money. You own the stock, and you sell an out of the money call. If the stock stays at more or less the same price until the call expires, then you keep the stock and the money you got from [more]

Re: low-volatility funds aren't worth it ?

"the type that goes to cash when things get ugly with no defined plan to re-enter the market"

Huh? Nice straw man. Those of us who do time the market certainly do know the conditions to buy and sell.

Bottom line is that [more]

Re: low-volatility funds aren't worth it ?

"keeps you buy and hold"? Is that supposed to be good? Also, what would be the reason to hold something for a decade or more? Is there a reason to determine a holding time when you buy? No way.

OK. Do not be concerned about [more]

Re: Vanguard Mutual Funds

What makes you thing that the money is going to climb at least to the amount of your original investment? Why would it do that? And how long would it take?

You should watch your investments carefully, and dump anything that begins to lose [more]

It is really silly to try to find "The Big Winner Ten Years From Now". Just find something trending up and hold it as long as it does not break the trend.

Re: I lasted three days

There was an athlete, a basketball player, who was a vegan. I do not remember his name. He got very sick from a lack of B12, because he did not take vitamins. That was several years ago.

So be a vegan if you want, but take vitamins.
