Re: Glass shower doors?

We have a glass shower enclosure in the master bath. Well, tiled on 3 sides, but glass door. The previous owners had it open (no doors), but I found I wasn't a big fan of that. If you keep the house cool (either in winter, or summer with AC), it's [more]

This part really hit home for me. I do not live in an earthquake region. My only experience with one was during a business trip to [more]

Re: Pool heater: wrap-up

I guess I shouldn't mention that my unheated in-ground pool was 88-89 degrees last weekend? ;)

Re: Star Wars Battlefront

Wow! I have a sweet spot for Star Wars, loved Battlefront 1 and 2 - still pop them in from time to time.

Might be time to pick up one of the current generation consoles when this comes out.

Re: Slow Day

You know this is kinda funny. Believe it or not, I tend make sure no one is on my 6 before I clean my windshield, for the exact reason given. Just being polite...

On the flipside, I have also deployed my washers on at least one occasion when [more]

Okay, this is a first...

Completed my taxes and E-filed last night, and I did not have to ask a single question of the board this year!

The last couple of years we let a pro handle the taxes (due to DW's S-corp, now dissolved), but I took back the reigns this year [more]

Re: injuries

Hmmm.. I did trap a small birch board once between blade & fence, it kicked back, smacked me in the tummy, scared me, hurt like hades, and I carefully felt to see if it went into me.. perfect rectangular imprint where it hit, [more]

Re: injuries

In my experience, most people (myself included) have removed the safety guards from their table saws. They get in the way of some cuts, obscure your sightline to the blade/cut, sometimes they can mar soft woods, and they're generally a PITA to work [more]

Re: The Walking Dead 032915

You saw them looking at the photos left behind by Aaron in the car?

Yes, I did see that, but they looked like regular snapshots of the gang. Nothing that would necessarily lead someone to find the Alexandria settlement.

Re: OT: Structured Settlements

We have a saying "the duty to defend is greater than the duty to indemnify" and this example is one illustration of this. Yes, the insurance carrier has a contract with their insured, and it obligates us to act in the utmost good faith [more]

I've see the TV ads for at least one of those crooked companies

I don't think these products are targeted at the OP, who is deciding whether to take a lump sum or structured payments from the insurance company settlement. These are [more]

You don't think it's the "wolves"?

I'm sure it will be, but they haven't shown themselves to be a threat to Alexandria at this point. Darryl and Morgan encountered them 50 miles from Alexandria. When the attacked Morgan, [more]

Re: The Walking Dead 032915

Very satisfying episode. Tied up many of the loose ends - Morgan, the abusive husband, Rick and the gang vs Alexandria, the mysterious "W"s on foreheads. No contrived cliffhanger. We'll head into next season looking for a new antagonist.

We couldn't even give away the one we inherited from my FIL a year ago.

I find myself in an odd (and regrettable scenario). Several years back, my FIL purchased a timeshare in Hawaii, and added my wife to the deed - ostensibly so we [more]

Re: Deadbolt broken in locked position

So, what I would do, is to take a "Sawzall, or a Reciprocating Saw", with a Carbide-Blade or something equivalent, and just Cut the Deadbolt off!!!

Re: Cost of Brake Job

Depends on what exactly you're having done. A set of OEM front pads shouldn't be more than $40-$50. Non-OEM may even be a little cheaper. A straight pad swap is a quick and easy job, maybe 15-20 minutes on the lift. Figure 30 minutes of labor cost. A [more]

Re: Garage door sticking in closed position

Found a couple of more things last night. The opener was adjusted very poorly. From the point where the door was fully closed, the opener had another 2" of travel remaining, torquing the door bracket needlessly. When fully open, it went a couple [more]
