Re: 10 million sold

It is a little more complicated than that. Samsung's trend in premium smartphone growth is taking place during a time when the global market for smartphones, particularly in some of Samsung's home markets, is growing by a rather significant margin [more]

Re: Random Notes... Last First Edition

I was a little surprised at the number of T-mobile iphones sold.

Subscriber base is 34 million, so 1/68 of the subscriber base took a month or less to switch to Apple. And most T-mobile customers are still locked into their two-year [more]

Re: big phones

Given that Samsung makes high end phones, the article says little about how profitable the low end of the market is for smartphone makers. And given that the article also states that Samsung, Apple's top competitor in the high end phone business, is [more]

TSLA Outperform

Real money here. Main reasons: 1) Musk 2) Beautiful and functional product that has a lot of room for growth. I live in Silicon Valley which has quite a few on the road and they are eye catching cars. 3) Disruptive business model It's possible Tesla [more]

Re: ripe Apples and not so good iCloud

Profit per week in Q1 2013 was roughly 1 billion.
Profit per week in Q1 2012 was roughly 0.92 billion.

That's profit growth. Maybe declining margins destroy that growth but YOY we're still in profit growth territory.

1 Great Dividend You Can Buy Right Now? Apple.

Thanks Sean -- Of course you're right. I was asleep at the wheel (i.e., looking at payout ratio numbers from Yahoo Finance instead of just doing the simple calculations myself).

Still a nice opening payout ratio

Re: Yet more evidence

This data says a lot more about Apple's dominance in the affluent market than it does about use per device. At the very least we're looking at a population that flies. And isn't the service also a pay service?

But share of the affluent [more]

Re: Adjusted P/E 6. Amazing.

These are not the only two possibilities. The most probably scenario is that Apple has slowly declining revenues and profits which puts its PE between 12 and 20.

I can see 12 P/E pretty easily. To get to 20 P/E, one needs to [more]

CAPS Outperform Pitch

janhrdina wrote about Apple (AAPL) . 5:52 PM

AAPL Outperform

With the recent pullback there is little downside risk left in the stock: P/E is very low; cash reserves are absurdly high even after taxes; dividend is likely to rise; and the current yield is already above the S & P average and sets a nice [more]
