Oil price stock divergence

This seems like it might be a good place to discuss the investing opportunities and dangers associated with oil. So far, oil prices have gone down much more than oil-related stock prices. But today, even though oil prices were initially low, are now [more]

Re: Italy and Spain 10 year rates

In a liquid market, prices will reflect all available information. In this case, the market recognizes that even bonds from Italy are implicitly guaranteed by the EU. What you're failing to take into account is all the government stimulus money [more]

Re: Russia & Ukraine, the longish view

I've spent time in Crimea, Donetsk, Kiev, Lviv, Carpathian mountains, and Siberia, and my take is that the differences between these regions, between Ukraine and Russia, have to do with personal political allegiances rather than any deep ethnic [more]

Re: Russia & Ukraine, the longish view

The irony is that Ukraine and Russia are ethnically, culturally, and historically natural allies. Putin has succeeded in driving a wedge between them that can never be overcome, at least while Putin is alive. Putin is acting in what he perceives as [more]

Time to buy?

CODI has been trending down for months now, along with other BDCs. The price (and dividend)is starting to look more attractive. I sold all my BDCs about six months ago, when the prospect of an interest rate rise made them less attractive, and I [more]

Re: $10/bbl crude on the way

YEA!!!! Does that mean 50cents gas, like we haven't seen in 50 years?

But seriously, the price of oil has shown a lot of resilience lately, not to mention the price action on oil stocks. Cramer said recently that oil isn't going below its [more]

"Apparently they want customers to pay off their cards each month"

Why would they want customers to pay off their cards every month? They collect high interest on credit balances.

Re: The Data Bubble

Data, or knowledge, is valuable. But I think Google's valuation is based on its access to users. Millions of users use the interface everyday and see the ads. It's about advertising rates.

One of the effects of the internet is the [more]

Re: Anyone Paying Attention?

I don't see any real asset bubbles, so I'm skeptical about the chance of any serious market plunge, although a correction is always possible.
