Re: IBM: Is Buffett Wrong?

So in a sense, IBM wants to get back into providing solutions, not hardware.

In those days IBM did not terminate employees unless for good cause. I don't know whether providing solutions would work as well to=day. The recovery depends [more]

Re: OT - Safe Value - BP or IBM?

Overall, I don't trust European companies' dividends at all. They are, umm, very "flexible" compared to American ones, with the attendant pros and cons. Mostly cons if you ask me.

If you want quarterly payments (when not in [more]

But I think even they would prefer a turn-key system, and IBM is a pretty good provider of that.

Re: IBM: Is Buffett Wrong?

I am not worried yet.

At last, a voice of reason. Until yesterday the dummies on the board told me to have everything in BRK instead of dividend payers, and sell it in bis and pieces if cash is needed to eat out on Saturday nights. [more]

Re: OT: IBM..."It’s a terrible mista

Berkshire's breakeven counting dividends to date is around $159.50 a share, so they're still up $645m.

Is this look into the past comforting? If so to me whose wife owns both IBM and BRK? I bought more IBM to-day but sold NRK recently [more]

It’s a terrible mistake.

How can that possibly work out to less than the dividend tax?
