Re: Split Residency

Until the house sells DH is still going to be working in PA, with a paycheck. I'll be working in VA, but doing yard work, drywall and floors for sweat equity.

I believe that your DH could easily be a VA or a PA resident for tax [more]

Re: Split Residency

I guess in 2015 I'll be a part-year VA resident with DH playing that part in 2016 when I'll be a full time resident.

You could probably easily make him a full time VA resident and part-time PA for 2015. I don't know how that'd affect [more]

Re: Disqualifying Disposition of ISO

This difference is usually quite small (maybe zero), but on a volatile stock it usually won't be. There's some delay in the system because the broker has to wait for the issuing company to award the shares before it can sell them.

Re: Same option exercise taxed twice

I have come to the conclusion that there is a very good likelihood that a stock option exercise by my wife was reported both on the W-2 as income and on a 1099-B as short term capital gain. The tax rate is the same, but the whole amount shows up [more]

Before jumping to this conclusion, I would ask another question. Was the replacement just a replacement (same amperage to the house, replaced wiring, etc.) or was it truly an improvement (increased amperage, new circuitry, etc.)? My guess is the [more]

It would be odd, but it is possible your door is hitting the garage floor with just a tiny bit less force than needed to cause the door to re-open. Then some other event wind, temperature change, etc. causes the system to re-open.
