GST lock up assets so the corpus doesn't go your children but the next generation.

Is it prudent to lock up assets for the responsible child in order to protect the irresponsible one? That's what one GST will do.

Consider looking for someone who uses passive investments and 1.5% for strictly investment advice & no financial planning is sort of high, but it's your money.

The 403B/457 market is dominated by insurance companies.

Valic in particular is shady.

The last 403B plan I saw was an Oppenheimer flavor with only Class C shares. While not shady just expensive.

I don't know any pension funds using 10% expected returns, 8% seems to be the norm which I think is pie in the sky

The big ones have lowered expectations to around 7.5%.

Unless the 401K is at Vanguard the adviser is being paid percentage of assets inside the 401K. Your employer could be picking up all the costs but that's not likely.
