Ignoring taxes, 3 years at 2,000 = 36,000. 36,000 divided by 200 (increase at age 65) is 180 months or 15 years to make up difference.

I bought a case of bankers boxes at Costco and have been mailing stuff to my oldest daughter. Since she is 40, it seemed like it was time she went through it. Get's it out of the house and makes it her problem.

I think there is something in the law that says they can't increase your Medicare IF your basic SS doesn't increase. maybe that is the 90 cents.

I first saw it years ago in "The Tightwad Gazette" by Amy Dacyczyn. I'm sure she wasn't the first one to give out the hint, but we use it. It makes us feel like we are being frugal, even if it doesn't save a lot of $$.

Be sure they apply to principal. I had a client who was making extra payments and the bank had to recompute several years payments. Double check the interest and principal each year at a minimum.
