My point is that the next 50 years will have the same ingredients as the last 50

Don't know why you'd think so. We know the first thing to start changing after the temperature is the rainfall patterns and we know that we have trouble [more]

Re: Soon Be Too Late to Save the Seas

Over the longer time spans were the changes/adjustments made by the oceans or the organisms?

By recollection I think that "life" survived in some form. Depends on whether you call this living :-) - So yes [more]

Re: Facebook Isn't The Social Network Any Longer

I've regarded Facebook as a self-induced ADHD for its users. It seems to actively inhibit careful deep thought - hey here's a picture of a kitten - and continuity - look at that squirrel I linked to - to the point where it may be damaging the brains [more]

Yeah... and we know why we're going to lose track of this just as the need to keep track of it becomes critical to our survival.

I don't hold the view that new mathematics is required. The human brain evolved and our consciousness evolved within it, without benefit of that mathematical rigor.

Re: Hydrogen?

That's a big part of it. There are also some nasty effects in terms of making metallic containers more brittle.

Look up hydrogen embrittlement.

Where I am at right now I can't even paste a link.

Re: Hydrogen?

The risk and difficulty of leakage is immense, as the people who deal with H2 storage and transport understand well. CH4 is easier and it still leaks. Liquid CH4 (LNG) makes more sense overall but again, the leakage has to be addressed. [more]

Re: Increased CO2 reduces protein

the research quoted shows the positives outweigh the negatives.

So an 8 meter increase in sea level is outweighed by a 10%-20% increased crop yield on the fields that aren't closer to sea level than that, or on river flood plains? [more]

Not at all.

You can seriously regard the one positive effect (in a strictly limited regime of plus 2 degrees) and ignore both the negatives and the near certainty that we'll exceed that?

Good news for a hungry world.

How can even you project this sort of result from warming DB2? :-)

Re: Why is Steve Wozniak wrong?

Therefore, to tax productive activity, the tax must be on individuals

...and as groups of individuals they each can say what they wish and lobby the government... but as a corporation they have no such special rights.
