Prologis Article

This WSJ article pretty much sums up the reason I am bullish on PLD.

Re: Home Properties Buyout?

HME continues to soar, hitting a new high again today. Yesterday, it was the only REIT that I watch that went up -- over 2 percent on twice normal volume -- while all the others I watch were down.

Re: Home Properties Buyout?

That's always the dilemma, isn't it? But I have observed that once a company is rumored for a bid, the market considers it to be in play and it tends to keep some of the buyout "premium" even if the rumor doesn't immediately pan out. [more]

Home Properties Buyout?

A rumor hit the wires this morning that a private equity firm is looking at buying HME. For some reason, I can't find the link now, but this rumor is undoubtedly the reason for the 8 percent spike today.

I recently (and modestly) boosted my [more]

PLD research by Fitch

I always pay attention to research by fixed-income analysts because I think that they are (relatively) less starry-eyed than equity analysts. Fitch seems bullish on the KTR acquisition. (Unfortunately, I cannot find an open source for the research -- [more]

Re: Shopping Malls: Far From Dead

Ralph, I think I speak for many when I say that your posts are solid gold. I will welcome anything you post for the board. Asset classes go in and out of favor. As you note, REITs right now don't offer the income possibilities that other asset [more]

Re: Zombie REITS

Strange investments, where the lack of price transparency is sold as a BENEFIT.

One of the collateral benefits of researching debt is the possibility of identifying companies where the equity is a superior investment. I want through Quantumonline's list of ETNs, looking for notes with short maturities and identified two issues [more]

Lessons learned: After a week of investigating bonds, I have learned that an income of 5-6% is not obtainable from bonds without taking on unacceptably high credit risk. The few bonds I have found that look acceptable do so only because the company's [more]

It is my understanding that the yield to maturity includes the effects of the purchase at a premium. Obviously, the premium will gradually decline as the maturity date approaches until it will trade at par. This bond will go deep into the never-sell [more]

What splendid feedback! In particular, the Bulletshares sounds perfect for me, although I have to do my DD.

Just a couple of clarifications: About 80 percent of my money is in IRAs. Hence, I can take gains on the REITs in my IRAs without [more]

Norm, one of the really interesting things is that both my Tenet note and this Vanguard note have nearly identical credit ratings and maturity, but the Vanguard note has a yield more than 50 percent higher than the Tenet note. Apparently the market [more]

Prologis (PLD)

Logistics REIT Prologis has significantly underperformed other REITs over the past few years. That might be because it is already highly valued due to its blue-chip status.

But I actually consider it a growth hedge in my portfolio because [more]

Fixed income ideas? (OT)

I believe in Warren Buffet's rule that once you have won the game, stop playing. So, now that I am retired, I am trying to shift my portfolio more to bonds and less to REITs, where I am taking very substantial capital gains. I am also selling REIT [more]
