If anyone is still interested, I decided to put the car on hold for now. Will reconsider in a year or so when a (likely, at least) promotion is to occur. It will be a reward.

Based on this info, it looks as if you're saving ~30% of your gross income.

Correct. Higher i suppose if you count the employer contribution too.

The SUV note is at 0.9% and was $1K under dealer invoice. I went through a purchase program we have at work.

(work at a large company that has negotiated rates for employees with many companies)

I guess I'm the lone voice of dissent. I don't think you provided enough information to give a good answer. Subtracting what you *think* you spend from your net pay doesn't accurately reflect your savings rate. What percentage are you 'off the top' [more]

1) love going around in winter and finding fresh snow to drive through
2) do have to haul equipment sometimes for my job
3) visit my parents in winter which can get pretty snowy
