Re: Portrait of a moderate Christian

So you want a theocracy, too? And accomplished by force?

WOW! Conceptually not surprising to me but surprised for the admission in writing.

Hmm, can't be bothered to read the link in the OP I see?

This is priceless. They are going to protest at the Creation Museum, supposedly because they promote belief in dinosaurs.

So if humans in a few years create organic life in a test tube and release it into the environment, and other humans came across it without knowing the history, would they consider such life designed?

Humans after all are probably only a generation or two away from creating organic life in a test tube.

Would it be considered "artificial" ?

Very true. Although for many, God and evolution peacefully co-exist.

Isn't anyone else's theory, its mine. Not sure what to even do with it, but this seems an appropriate place to drop it off.

Nigel will be by tomorrow to take out the trash and recyclables, you can just leave it here ;-)

Re: A lazier sort of deity

Evolution does not even test the concept of a deity or origins.

True, yet some feel intellectually fulfilled as atheists because of evolution, as if there were some connection.

Re: Proof of Intelligent Design

ID is about origin, and Intelligent Design vs Creation isn't addressed by finding evidence of some sort of panspermia.

Just saying. true or not true, it still doesn't say anything meaningful about creation or deities.

Incidentally, it's passages like this that suggest to scholars that the Bible is a wiki with multiple editors. One writer has Jehovah tell Balaam to go see Balak, another writer has an angel tell Balaam the same thing, and a third writer has an [more]

To leave room for faith?

They could have recorded every word exactly as Jesus spoke it, and you still wouldn't know that's what they did.

God chose to communicate through humans. It can get messy.

Isn't that the same as the evangelist's interpretation of what Jesus meant?

You are saying that this is not a direct quote from Jesus - he didn't necessarily say these words?

You didn't read the link. I'm saying that the gospel writers did not record Jesus' words on cassette tape, and then transcribe it. They [more]

The “for the forgiveness of sins” part seems kind of important. It’s not in the Luke or Pauline versions either, it’s just in Matthew.

Any ideas as to why Matthew has it but the others don't?
