iTunes 12.2 mangles libraries

Some time after the iTunes 12.2 update, I found that all of my Handbraked videos (from DVDs I own) plus some other, non-iTunes videos that I purchased and downloaded from the web and put in my iTunes library have been re-sorted as Home Videos. It was [more]

Re: Updated post re: Office for Mac came first

In the mid-eighties, Number one software by unit sales was AppleWorks, which combined a word processor, spreadsheet, & database.

I used AppleWorks on the Mac as ClarisWorks first, and that debuted in 1998. At least, that's the [more]

3) It's also currently not as widely accepted.

I can't use Apple Pay to pay at the gas pump, for example, at least not at the gas stations I usually use. And I'm not going to go out of my way to find one that accepts it, if any do. Chevron [more]

Home Sharing on iOS for music gone...

One surprise: I couldn't find any source, anywhere, that gave the exact release date of Word for Mac version 1.0. The "About Word" dialog box shows a date of January 18, 1985, so that's the date I used.

Well, in those days, [more]

Amazing that fanbois seem to think dissent is "moronic."

You lost me in this first sentence by dismissing people who distrust Enderle as "fanbois" -- and I myself counter those who appear to think Macs are [more]

Re: Migrating to Photos from iPhoto

I would create a test library to play with before actually deleting any iPhoto Library..

Me, I don't trust Photos yet... Someday, maybe. Not today..

I'm not ready for Photos yet, either. I went the other direction and [more]

Re: Migrating to Photos from iPhoto

So, is it safe to delete the Photos Library? That is, are the contents of Photos Library a duplicate of iPhoto Library contents? Or is there some sort of linkage going on that means I should be more careful?

Well, I'll try to answer [more]

Migrating to Photos from iPhoto

Another quick query:

When I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3 and got Photos, it seems somewhere along the line my photo library was migrated to Photos. However, I still maintain my iPhoto library as my primary photo library and iPhoto as my [more]

iPhoto vs. Photos for Photostream

I'm not sold on Photos, yet, so like many, I'm sticking with iPhoto until things are fully shaken out and maybe Photos 2 is out. I don't think the Photos for iOS interface as implemented in Photos for Yosemite is better than the original iPhoto [more]

Re: Is Michael Dell writing for the WSJ ...

I apologize for confusing the issue. What Apple will get from xCode is an intermediate code (in addition to the machine code, as before), like Java does. It's not the source code, but kind of a one pass through the compiler code. The intermediate [more]

I tend not to use non-Apple drivers if I can help it, and the Orbit doesn't seem to need it. In any case, it just has the left and right buttons, with no scrolling control.
