I think you should set up a bench with pads to keep the rifle stationary and a target. Aim the rifle and see if it shoots high or low. Adjust the rear sight until what you see is what you hit.

Watch yourself and your loved ones when you're using a trap

I have a Hav-A-Heart trap like JeanDavid describes. I do worry about the neighborhood cats, but so far they don't like lettuce.
