Re: How should I spend $5500?

I bought a 2005 Corvette.... points for style right? I also took the longest loan possible to keep monthly payments down.

And as a result, you ended up with a 10 year old car that is secured by loan with 5 years remaining. I'm glad [more]

Re: New credit card effect on FICO?

You could ask your current credit cards for an increase in credit line.

Ask about if increasing your credit line requires them to an inquiry on your credit report first. If it does, I would not recommend doing that before you close on [more]

Re: How should I spend $5500?

1) I can scrounge together $5500 to spend by the end of the next month to pay down debt.
2) Each month I can pull together $2000 to pay off debt.

Re: New credit card effect on FICO?

So, if I finance the dental work by opening the new Chase card account, will I take a hit on the credit score so as to affect my purchase of a new house?

Probably. The new inquiry will likely drop your credit score, plus having a new [more]

Re: Need invite to TMF?

With COLAs, it is possible eventually.

Which is kind of pointless, because COLAs indicate that inflation has occurred, meaning that to sustain a certain lifestyle, the pension income would also need to increase.

The senate provides a very generous pension and continued medical coverage. He isn't going to need to lower his standard of living.

It seems his standard of living is already above his means - which indicates he needs to lower his [more]

Re: a solution to my debt or not so much?

It was about 40K so I put it in a brokerage account and put it in interest baring investments and lived off the interest. You have to do, what you have to do.

Wow. How did you do that? Even at 10% interest, $40k only throws off $4,000 [more]
