An Interview with XMFSinchiruna

Last updated: 9/21/2009
The Fool:
What do you fear most?
XMFSinchiruna:
Debt
The Fool:
What's been your best investment to date, and how did you discover it?
XMFSinchiruna:
Companhia de Minas Buenaventura, BVN, the Peruvian gold miner, also producing silver, lead, zinc and copper. It's up over 200% for me, and looks promising to add another 200% before the bull market in commodities has run its course.
The Fool:
Do you have a favorite company or stock which the worldwide Foolish community should know about -- and why?
XMFSinchiruna:
Junior precious metals miners, especially those focused on silver:<br />Copper Fox, Great Panther, Endeavour Silver, ECU Silver, Coeur d'Alene. Silver will surpass $50 per ounce, possibly reaching $100 or beyond as gold tops out above $2,000. At $1,650 gold, look for $50 silver. Silver has further to rise because it is historically cheap relative to gold, so as the bull run matures, silver will revert to historical ratio in the 20:1 range or better. For gold miners, Gammon, Osisko, Iamgold, etc.

My Story

Christopher Barker -- aka TMFSinchiruna -- is an anthropologist by training, a USCG-certified captain of 100-ton vessels by way of a tangent, and a thorough observer of precious metal and commodity markets because all roads led to Rome. Now home again in his native New England, Christopher has spent time living and working among tribal communities of the Amazon rainforest and the cloud forests of Costa Rica, as well as with communities closer to home. He has served as executive director of a start-up company providing study-abroad experiences in the Hawaiian archipelago, and as an archivist for declassified documents pertaining to nuclear weapons testing programs in the Pacific Islands. When not ensuring future blindness by staring at his laptop screen, Christopher enjoys sailing with his family. [including his dog GG, who is so named because she's a "good girl," and not because her owner thinks the ticker GG is a great choice for gold exposure]. Christopher tweets links to every published article or CAPS blog post, and hopes you'll drop by his blog and say hello. Blog: http://caps.fool.com/Blogs/ViewBlog.aspx?t=01006124249416869148 Twitter: http://twitter.com/TMFSinchiruna Christopher developed a second CAPS profile under the alias "silverminer" to restore a more targeted focus on tracking precious metal equities and related commodity plays. Please add both CAPS profiles to your favorites list to keep track of his recommendations as they shift.
