An Interview with TMFTurtle

Last updated: 6/2/2015
The Fool:
What seemingly insurmountable challenge did you meet and defeat?
TMFTurtle:
I'll go on record as disliking the war imagery of defeat, but here are a few challenges I've dealt with in my life:
--earning a PhD;
--growing up in the Navy, thus moving ~5k miles every few years;
--leaving academia and refiguring my career; and
--having a chronic illness.
The Fool:
What other financial products or services do you use?
TMFTurtle:
A broker. That's about it.
The Fool:
Does ethics or 'socially responsible investing' have a place in your investment approach? How so? How not?
TMFTurtle:
Absolutely. I don't care so much about the so-called "sin stocks" (although I'll still avoid tobacco companies), but I do care about companies who are using their hefty power to either support or oppress people around the globe.

Nestle, which is trying to privatize water and contributing to the drought in California? Not a company I'm interested in.
