Re: RYAM slipping down

Ooh, that IS starting to look pretty interesting. Thanks for reminding me. If we get a downturn in the market and we get an indiscriminate selloff here, this could really have a nice return over the next few years. $28 would be a pretty decent price [more]

Re: FFNW price drop?

Yep, that's what happened. You had the limit in, the stock tanked, your order got filled, and then the stock went back up. Just the vagaries of a thinly traded stock. So I suppose you're already up a nice bit on those calls. Great way to start. [more]

Re: FFNW price drop?

SegaRob, that move down is just a consequence of such a thinly traded stock. Someone puts a market order in to sell maybe 10,000 shares and the bid is so thin that the stock drops. Notice how quickly it came right back up? This stock normally does [more]

Re: Occidental

Hey, TotalReturnInvestor,

I usually don't do oil and gas stuff, because it's not in my area. It would have to be something really unusual and so obvious for me to attempt it. In general, I stay away from commodities-focused companies. The [more]

Hi, zeydah,

There's not a board devoted to EXETF or any other stocks I discuss in the Profit Playbook section. Dedicated stock boards are reserved for James Early's monthly selection.

The stocks I write up are usually discussed on [more]

Re: wpg

I'm surprised by the move downward. The acquisition is going to be accretive to FFO and the dividend will remain at $1 per share, according to the press release. So at today's closing price, the forward yield is 5.8%. And the acquisition broadens [more]

Re: More buybacks from TFSL

I've seen that, too. But that's not the case here. You rarely see companies get as aggressive on buybacks as what TFSL is doing. It's absolutely stupid what most companies do with their buybacks.

Go back and read the last year's worth of [more]

Re: Icahn Wins 3 Hertz Board Seats

Yes, more evidence that Icahn will hold this company's feet to the fire and get real action. Before we could speculate that he had some power with his sizeable stake but now he has the real deal -- board representation. This a fantastic development [more]

Re: More buybacks from TFSL

The second step is usually done below fully converted book value, often at 90% of BV. I've seen strong conversions that are being priced at 1x book (BNCL) or even 1.1x BV (ISBC). These are for the strongest conversions, and TFSL would have a [more]

Re: AWLCF Down 5+%

Oh, there's no question that its small size, low float, and lack of coverage add to the volatility here. Add to that the fact that you can't buy it on some of the huge platforms like IB. So lots of reasons to expect volatility. But that all means [more]
