Re: Ebay possible spinoff of Paypal

As always. No company is a buy at any price. But there will likely be some discount just because it's locked inside ebay now. Spinoffs are funny that way -- everyone can price the component parts and yet they still don't often trade at that sum of [more]

Re: Ebay possible spinoff of Paypal

Just the same here. That would be highly anticipated. It would be very, very interesting, and PayPal would be quite a gem.

Re: TFSL and rising interest rate

Something like 50% of loans are ARMs, so they've got some protection there. The 10K gives their interest rate sensitivity, if you want to check that out. IIRC, it's something like they'll lose 16% of their equity if rates go up 200 bps.

Re: TFSL volume on Aug 21st

Yep. A 30 cent move not so much, but this was double that. Pretty rare for this sleepy company.

Re: NRF - interesting

Yeah, I had heard just after my first purchase that NRF was a huge fund favorite. It was just out of small cap land (~$2bn market cap) a year ago. Surprising that the big fish swim here sometimes. Also, an indication of the opportunity.

Re: Latest RMP Buy -- HTZ

I have to buy because I said I would. And it won't make a lot of difference in the long run. If I think this is a $50 stock in 2-3 years, I'm ok buying a bit higher. This won't be the last purchase, probably.

Re: Nice couple days in your port

Yep. It's the nearest to being complete and still attractively priced. The nervous nellies and johnny come latelies are bailing today, but that's not going to matter.

And this is one more reason why I'm not worried. Tax-deductible! Thanks for the info.

Thanks! Hasn't done too badly. Still lots of good news ahead, though.

Re: TFSL volume on Aug 21st

Yeah, so it's a rolling average rather than a strictly one-day average. So on a given day they could make a huge percentage of the volume, but over time they can't be more than 25%.

Re: TFSL volume on Aug 21st

It is, but I'm not sure if it might be a rolling 25% or something like that or 25% over some time period not just one day. I don't know the specifics.

Things are going to look a lot different in nearly two full years. That's some capital efficiency using options. Thanks for the details.

Eventually all this will be over and BAC will look cheap again. The warrants are the way to go, I think.

Re: RYAM

RYAM is in a good situation. They just invested hundreds of millions to convert a factory to their high-grade product, and they're shifting sales over time to that high-margin, less competitive segment. Their high-end products require strong [more]

Re: Latest RMP Buy -- HTZ

The thing is, if they meet what analysts have thought they can do for 2015 earnings, they're trading at less than 13x earnings. Add some buybacks and they're even cheaper. Whatever you're paying for HERC, it's not a lot, if anything. But I haven't [more]
