An Interview with TMFNato

Last updated: 9/19/2007
The Fool:
Briefly review your favorite book.
TMFNato:
Ooh, tough one. Of my many favorites, I'll go with Glen David Gold's "Carter Beats the Devil." Basically, any book that combines skilled, insightful writing with elephants, lions, pirates, boy geniuses, evil magicians with tiny dogs, true love, daring escapes, heartbreaking tragedy, two-fisted piano players, and the mysterious death of Warren G. Harding is pretty much a must-read for me.
The Fool:
Have you had a brush with fame, the proverbial '15 minutes'? Tell us about it.
TMFNato:
In middle school, while living on a very tiny Air Force base, I won a few poster contests that got me interviewed on the local radio and TV. And lately, my Fool and non-Fool writings have been picked up and passed around the 'net by the occasional blogger. One guy said he planned to make something I'd written his new e-mail signature. Of course, the quote related to "Battlestar Galactica," so I'm not sure if I should be proud or ashamed.
The Fool:
What was the most significant discovery of the last century?
TMFNato:
Nuclear power. We humans had never really had the ability to destroy ourselves so quickly and conveniently before. I'd like to think that it gave us all a bit of pause, but that increasingly doesn't seem to be the case.
