Re: Arrrrgggghhhhhh.....

I just got off a Skype call with the friend of my nephew's mother - you know the one from The Philippines. I made the mistake of letting her know that I had an appointment with someone in a few hours to converse via Skype.

The Mom is

Re: Marriott--Tip Envelopes in Rooms Program

I also never stayed in a hotel before I was an adult, except my Godmother's little motor court motel with the little individual drive up cabins - but that was like staying with family - you just had a room on the lane.

I tip most of the [more]

Re: Speaking of gaping maws

ps - teen boys don't model behavior, they're nearly men and not really paying attention to hints.
You will have to tell them.
They will step OVER something of theirs 19 times while going up the stairs without realizing they could be taking

Re: Speaking of gaping maws

DH and I were talking about it this weekend. We're trying to figure out how to broach it without offending them. It's that bad.

Given they are teenaged boys, I may just be overthinking this.

With our girls - who were never even [more]

Re: Conversations with CSs ;-)

Next morning, it was ketchup on raisin bread.

That was just too much for DH. He told CS17 that he needed to improve his breakfast - which I agree, I think this part of why he's ravenous at dinner and late in the evening - I think he's going [more]

Perhaps the children's book It's a Spoon, Not a Shovel could be employed here?

Re: Speaking of gaping maws

I meant to comment on these before, but I got sucked into some other hysterical "growing up Chinese American kids" type videos and forgot to get back.

IOW, they are eating the way Chinese men are supposed to eat in their [more]

Conversations with CSs ;-)

To CS17 - If that's what you really like for breakfast, of course you can eat it, but DO NOT tell anyone that you had bread and ketchup for breakfast or they will think I am the worst mother on the planet - followed by explaining that ketchup [more]

Re: Do you freeze food?

I freeze meats, frozen veggies, breads. No problem.
Try repackaging it so it doesn't get freezer burn.

Me too.

I have a full sized Subzero freezer in the kitchen and a 21cft freezer in the basement.

Re: And so it begins

I'm jealous! Although, we did the two week dash on the kitchen and I'm totally in love with it! We pulled up the old kitchen floor, put down a new one, put wainscot in the old bathroom/new pantry and it all looks fabulous. I wouldn't mind redoing the [more]

Re: You're Too Stupid To Eat Healthy

I will admit, I had never even seen a pomegranate until I was in 8th grade and had moved to Virginia. When my friend offered me a few arils, I declined. It looked like something that could kill you - and growing up in Southern Florida, you sort of [more]

Re: Butter Prices

Around here at Costco, I think butter is about $2 for a pound, but you have to buy four lbs.

I usually stock up closer to the holidays, when they run specials and the price dips under $2/lb but it may not happen this year.

Re: Hunzicrisp!

I haven't had one yet, but rumor has it, there's a new kid in town. SweeTango. A cross breed of the Honeycrisp and Zestar. Same crunch, better flavor, comes out earlier in the apple season.

I'll be looking for them!

Why is the taxpayer buying "snacks" for those on federal free and reduced lunch programs to begin with? Legumes and oats. That's it. ;-)

Re: Poll: Sunday morning apparel

Most Sundays, it's t-shirt & yoga pants early, while I have my tea, then I get dressed for church. Usually a nice dress - but today, I had a Mary Kay event right after church, and it was a casual thing, so it was a jeans skirt and a MK t-shirt. [more]

Re: Week... whatever. :)

I must have done a good deed! My cushion cover appeared in the hosta bed today! Yay!

Naturally it had been cozying up to a putty knife (also missing), so there's a huge rust stain, but I'm hoping it will wash out with some CLR. If not, it's [more]

My task for the next few days is to weed the front garden beds. They look bad!
