I conduct a rigorous amount of research and gut-check checkpoints (to remove emotions) to find the relatively few great companies worth owning for the long haul, although I'll take smaller positions with more speculative companies from time to time. I mostly stick to what I know (or am trying to figure out, anyway), which tends to heavily favor companies contributing to the bioeconomy. Sounds like a pipedream to most, but the bioeconomy comprised 2.5% of all American GDP in 2012 and now represents at least 5% of overall growth year after year -- pretty important!
