That's really a great point. If GE were a larger part of my portfolio, I'd likely be less willing to cut it as much slack, given its dividend and valuation situation.

There is no tax dis-/advantage to a backdoor Roth IRA conversion whether or not there is any TIRA money. Either way, you pay tax on the zero-basis portion of the TIRA converted.

5) The paperwork is easier and it's potentially cheaper from a tax perspective to execute "backdoor Roth IRA" contributions if there's no money in Traditional IRAs.

In our current home, we have 2 A/C units, one for the upstairs/bedrooms and one for the ground floor. That keeps the floors pretty well equalized.
