Re: Does Anyone Here Remember?

How do you think YELLOW cheddar cheese gets to be that color? It's made from milk and then dyed.

Cabot Cheese confirmed that on a tour once, when they were asked. They add yellow coloring to appease folks west of here, who expect it to be [more]

Tomato Plants Not Growing?

Weird. I have several tomato plants bought a few weeks ago and planted in my little raised bed garden in good soil (bought in bags).

ONE is growing, but the others seem to be sort of just plain hanging on. We have had rain and sun, [more]

Re: Baltimore Orioles vs Cherries

Oh boy... they're baaaack!!!!

Cherries are starting to turn red and there was one bird out there today until the rain came. Suspect just a female, sitting there, not eating, probably awaiting the male and maybe friends!

Oh well. [more]

Ditto here. Sad thing is, canned beans and such come in a liquid that is usually discarded. Then, if people cook them in water and toss THAT away, too, what's left? Not much nutrition!

Re: Electric Chain Saws

Yes, we're longtime campers so my bow saw has been well used. But at my age, even moderate sized trees are getting to be work, so I like the idea of the electric saw to help with all these darned little birch trees.

Peace.

PSU:

Well, we have a bunch of annoying little trees (mostly birches)that have grown up on this hillside and some are bigger than I can easily cut with my good loppers or do with my bow saw, so this would just be for cleanup.

TK:

I have a couple of 20-amp outlets outside, so no sweat there. The $50 or so price sounds good for an older guy who hates yanking cords the way I have to to crank up the gas saw! I think I'll pick one up.

Re: Electric Chain Saws

Thanks, fellas. I suspected it would be fine, provided one doesn't do stupid things like trying to string together a bunch of household extension cords or whatever!!!

I like the idea of using it to do in a bunch of small trees on the hill [more]

Electric Chain Saws

I have a regular 14-inch gas powered chain saw. However, I am intrigued by the light weight electric ones.

Has anyone used one with a good quality 100-ft extension cord?

Re: Tax Letter from IRS about Identity?

This was an official-seeming letter that came in the mail -- not email.

I think it's on the up and up. I'll gather my forms and such and contact the IRS. (I also went to the IRS web site and found several mentions of these special letters. [more]

Has anyone else gotten one of these letters? We just got one and want to be sure it's legit.

The web site seems okay but their questions ARE personal and we want to be sure. Attempts to call them get "very high volume", [more]

We set out to do that one year but gave it up. The big tree is about 15 feet high. How do you get the net OVER it and how do you retrieve it afterward?

Yup -- we're approaching that time of year again.

We have a couple of sweet cherry trees -- one full grown semi-dwarf and one small ne, just starting to bloom and a different kind.

Every year, the big one is prolific, producing [more]
