But yes, your characterizing the ICE as still being ahead of EV, and for the same reasons it was always ahead in the past, is actually quite defensible.

This is a self-confession. It may be interesting to some people but I am [more]

No, $100/hr * 2 mechanics * 8 hours/day. $1600.
Oh, maybe it'll need to be open more than 8AM to 4PM. Better stay open to 9PM. $2600/day.

But, which is it? One guy says that the battery swap station is just a non-serious thought, another guy says that the better swap is a done deal.

Please read again what I said, if you would.
Batteries for vehicular use ARE heavy, expensive, slow to charge, and have depressingly finite life spans.
None of those is "even a tiny little teeny bit" true? Please, sir, we're

Two questions for the battery discussion. Why are Tesla batteries considered by several here to have far shorter useful lives than Prius batteries? Is it the battery technology, or the use?

The Prius Hybrid (not the plug in) uses a [more]

Nobody's going to pay $5000 put to a new engine in a 1986 Toyota Tercel, right?

If you are looking for a car like the Toyota Tercel, you will HATE the Tesla S. But it won't be because it's electric.

So who is paying for those extra batteries? They don't just buy themselves. Where does the money come from?

At $70 to swap even if a battery has only 500 full charge cycles in it, you collect $35,000 over the life of a battery which [more]

I imagine driving 50-100 miles (or in a fantasy, 250 miles in a Tesla), and then stopping for 4-6 hours to recharge the battery. So basically one road stretch per day, then spending the rest of the day recharging the battery.

Maybe a fast
