Length of lenses

Can someone help me make sense of this? I'm trying to compare the length of two lenses when they are collapses (not zoomed) so I can see the difference in carrying them while hiking.

Cloud photos

Hi,
I need some advice or insight into taking photos of clouds. I'm using a Sony NEX-6 on auto. Maybe I need to use manual with certain settings.

When I focus on the clouds with something in the foreground, like a tree or house, it [more]

Re: MalwareBytes

Thank you. That helps!

Why reinstall as needed instead of going back to the free version?

Partial solar eclipse

How to photograph this? Too late for me - I'm sure you must need a special filter or something.
Anyone here going to try?

Re: Zoom lens comparisons

What I meant by "range" was more choices in the f-number. I'm using ordinary language sometimes, since I don't yet know all the photography jargon.

I have a kit lens: 19-50, so I have the whole "range" there, but I don't [more]

Re: Zoom lens comparisons

My current one is 4.5-6.3. The one I'm considering is 3.5-6.3.

So doesn't that mean I have more range with the 3.5 one and can choose more than the 4.5 one?

It's an expensive decision so I have to figure out the pros and cons [more]

MalwareBytes

Hi,
To really keep a computer clean, does it make sense to pay for the premium version of MB? It has real time protection.

Also, if it has real time protection, what's the point of scheduled scans, which it also has? Why do scans if it [more]

"I check old prefetch files but that is just my quirk"

How do you do that? I think I would like to keep those also. Or some of them if they let you choose.

Re: CCleaner

I'm not seeing how to tell it to keep certain cookies. Is it straight forward?
And once chosen, does it remember what you want to keep?
Thanks.

Makes sense. Thanks. So I'll uncheck Chrome cookies but delete everything else. Thanks.

Re: Uninstall unneeded programs

Do you know how to shut down autoload programs with WD? I've looked through all the options but don't see such a thing. That would be useful. I'd like to be able to know what needs to auto load and what doesn't.

I Googled it but this is not [more]

CCleaner

Using CCleaner, you don't always want to have it delete cookies, cache, and browsing history, right? It assumes you do but it looks like if I leave Chrome open it will skip deleting these. Is that desirable?

Re: Zoom lens comparisons

I'm more or less a newbie so I don't know yet how much of a concern these things are - not experienced enough. I could see stability being a concern.

But it's not clear to me which of the two lenses would be better with these issues.

Thank you. Will do.
Do you know of a way to copy the list of programs? Or do I need to type each one individually?
Thanks,

Zoom lens comparisons

Hi,
I recently bought a Sony NEX-6 with the usual kit lens: 3.5-5.6/16-50.

I also just bought a 55-210 zoom lens.

I'm considering returning that and exchanging it for this 18-200 zoom:
