Shamus Funk has been a freelance writer with the Motley Fool since October of 2013. After graduating with his Ph.D in Physical Chemistry from North Dakota State University, he applied his chemistry/nanoscience education at an Ithaca-based biotechnology company performing research on Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants for government agencies including NASA and the Department of Defense. Shamus is currently a professor of chemistry in Wisconsin.
