What kind of Camera? I know that Canon packs some nice software with their cameras that organize, and allow you to do quite a bit, some editing, print, share... Etc..

Sounds like your hard drive indeed is failing. If you get into really bad shape you can mail me the drive I can use are super expensive recovery tools and pop it onto the FTP server if it gets super dire.

If it were me, I would do a clean wipe of the system and not restore an image. I personally don't prefer doing restores that way. I've never had good luck.
