Re: how did that prediction turn out?

I have no issues with what Namkato claims - except for one item:

I keep talking about how the USD is rising and N is diversifying because he says everyone here says the buck is becoming waste paper.

While my foreign holdings are [more]

Re: Engineering for K-12 needed

The problem is that engineering is more a decision making discipline than just the study of science. I agree 199% that it is valuable to teach this, but finding those able/willing to teach this discipline at the K-12 level is very difficult during [more]

Carry trade pouring money into the US and the buck is surging against almost all currencies.

If things crack, this can get bloody for US equities. Be careful out there.

Re: shift in balance in Middle East

I find it illuminating that, though each country has internal issues with "Muslim extremists", neither Russia, nor China seem to be vocal at this point about "the situation" in general. The last time I remember them being involved [more]

Re: Oops!

This is a pretty big deal. India's population is about 30% Muslim and they have bad memories of the massive anti-Muslim riots in 1992 (I think). In addition, there are visible scars from the attacks in Mumbai a few years ago blamed on Pakistan (for [more]

There are probably some confused guys in Norway wondering what they were smoking to give a NPP to someone who was not yet POTUS :-)

Re: After IS?

I happen to agree with Corbetti on this one. It is far too easy for Americans to look at the IS as a religious movement (made easier by their name).

We (as a government, rather than we, as a "people") are more interested in [more]

Re: the "stock gap"

A couple of points:

The lower economic tranches not only have limited funds to invest, but likely have limited education about how to properly invest.

Point two is: Since when is the Fed's charter to increase the wealth of the lower [more]

I'm not disagreeing with you - it's hard to tell with ratios which currency has moved, and there are obvious moves from the Euro to the greenback. Interestingly, you are right that most "desirable" currencies have kept [more]
