Re: Engineers not not get enough respect

Re: Engineers not not get enough respect

Guys,

Not to belabor an anecdote, but the reason I called was that the switch family was new and the data I needed was not available in Cisco's on-line documents. It hadn't shipped yet , so there was n oi name plate.

Sure, I could [more]

In support of jaagu:

A numbver years ago, Cisco came out with a new class of equipment (PoE switches designed to support IP telephones and wireless access points). I called their tech support department and explained to the Cisco network [more]

jaagu,

You're preaching to the choir. I just got tired of saying exactly the same thing as you did and decided that the background mattered more to me than the prestige and found other routes to have it help me climb to the top of my [more]

Bruce,

Be careful what you wish for. There's enough US shares owned by foreign sovereign wealth funds (as an example) that some "US" companies might be foreign owned.

Re: Risk Control 2 -portfolio risk

Hi PMom,

Actually, I think people would be happy to leave bonds in place paying low interest rates, in the event rates rise. It's the ones which are now pegged at legacy high rates which are, in our current low interest environment, [more]

Re: Risk Control 2 -portfolio risk

There is another way to look at things - one most people find distasteful - and that is market timing. Not in the context of a particular stock or bond, but rather in the context of going to cash when the market is rosy and getting back in when [more]

Hi Dan,

It may just be a matter of semantics.

I use a number of brokers, two of which have more than one retirement account. I also use a number of banks and keep money in a number of currencies.

The whole mess is kept [more]

Re: Snapping Up Real Estate

Actually it's a valid question: Do you invest in the US because your money is valued in USD and because your ownership is masked from your home country by the US corporate secrecy laws?

Currency stuff

After a substantial run-up, the Swiss central bank peged the Swiss Franc (CHF) at no higher than 1.2 to the Euro. With the deterioration of the confidence in the Euro over the past few days, the ratio has closed the gap back to 1.2138 CHF to the [more]
