Re: C'mon, its time for some magical discounts!

I agree that discounting during the slower seasons still occur and for good reason. But to me 30% room discount isn't really a sale as they can always just say whatever is the price and of course at any hotel the lower season prices are going to less [more]

Re: C'mon, its time for some magical discounts!

I'll have to go with Fuskie on this one. I don't know as much about Florida but I can tell you in Anaheim they for sure don't need any "real" discounting.

There was an excellent article a couple of months ago about Disneyland [more]

If you want to know what Disney is up against in this fight with Amazon. Here is an enlightening article from the LA Times on one of the book disputes that W.D. was referring to.

Re: Amazon Blocks the Captain

I am still a bit confused. Even though pre-sale messages were taken off, what about when the release date comes? Is Amazon refusing to stock the title if it doesn't get a certain price? Or, as one article points out, is Amazon merely denying the [more]

Re: Guardian Explosion

ESPN is a business model that a few deep pockets have tried to topple for years. So far, ESPN is still king. If the SEC investment can be turned into a money maker, the future earnings at ESPN will be only bigger than before.

Hi Fuskie,

Great summary and I agree with most of your key takeaways but there is a few where I disagree. Here is where I would have a different key take away then you had:

Re: What's That Doing Here?

I agree with this statement and have been concerned for years that Disney is headed exactly in this direction. For example, the Disney Food Blog (not a Disney publication) has an article today noting that the upcoming Food and Wine Festival [more]

Then Disney would be slammed as a greedy corporate behemoth that has lost its way.

Hmm nobody said it to them during the "Lost" Auction. Nobody says it when they sell "Cells" from their cartoons.

I too hope the charity makes a lot of money, but a thought occurred to me: what if Disney sold things like this as a way of making money? Could Disney sell the ability to have a small speaking cameo in, say, a "Pirates" picture for [more]
