Actually, Apple beat Samsung in unit sales, revenue as well as profit. IDC's data didn't count the iPad nano (iPod touch) of which Apple has now sold some 80 million.

Apple sold more iPad minis in their first three days on the market than Amazon sold Kindle Fires in their first three months.
