Re: Clogged downspouts

We use a power sprayer attachment on the hose. For us, normally the clogs are in the top elbow (where the spout bends in from the gutter to the wall). We have to aim the sprayer into the corner creases in the elbow joint (where it slides into the [more]

Re: Eliminating Smoke Stench

My Realtor, who also owns a lot of investment properties, says he has two big ozone machines that get rid of the odor of smoke in a day or two.

I'd also second the kilz. Some friends had a house where cats had peed on the floors and walls [more]

Re: Home sale - worth double move or wait and see

Update - Got another (different buyer) offer on Saturday, ended up being for a little more money and the closing date was what we wanted (don't have to move twice). Accepted offer, inspection coming up.

Re: Home sale - worth double move or wait and se

But he could have moved only once, on May 29 or June 8. That was why the deal with his buyer was in the works - so his buyer wouldn't need to close on the 22nd. Everyone would have just waited 1 or 2 weeks in their same homes and moved at that point. [more]

Re: Home sale - worth double move or wait and se

Well, the house sale thing was a chain. Buyer 1 is renting an apartment, and wants to buy Seller 1's house. Seller 1 agrees to sell his house and close May 22. Seller 1 becomes Buyer 2 by wanting to buy our house and wanting to close May 22. However, [more]

Re: Gas stove - burners sporadic non-igniting

Funny that when I did remove the burners and open the stove, there were mouse droppings inside, so sealed or not, mice had gotten in. Looked very old and we think we have eliminated our mice a while ago (knock on wood). There must be ways they can [more]

Re: Gas stove - burners sporadic non-igniting

Just an update - received the spark module part, had looked at a diagram of the stove on the Internet and watched some videos about how to open up the stove top.

Took about 15 minutes and was not difficult. Part replaced, stove reassembled. [more]

Re: Home sale - worth double move or wait and se

The weird thing is they would not have to do 2 moves because their buyers are renting and if we pay expenses to them they will stay a week or two longer in their apartment and postpone that closing (on our potential buyer's current home). But there [more]

Re: Home sale - worth double move or wait and se

No, they won't budge on the date and want to move in on that date or nothing.

The sellers of the house we're buying probably won't move our closing or our move-in date up, but we are checking just to make sure.

Re: Gas stove - burners sporadic non-igniting

I think sealed burners is generally meant that when you boil over a pot, the stuff doesn't get down inside the burner. Great for keeping the electronic stuff separated from potential spills, but it does mean it is more challenging to get inside. (I [more]

Home sale - worth double move or wait and see

Our house has been on the market just over a week. We've had 3 showings and received one offer that is generally good, but has a closing date of a full week before we close on our new home purchase. The buyer is very set on that date and is not [more]

Re: I wonder how much this would save me...

A few years ago I adopted kind of a "uniform" for myself at work. I got sick of trying to decide what to wear every morning and the drive to always be buying more clothes. I got tired of it not ever mattering if I wore something really [more]

Gas stove - burners sporadic non-igniting

Hi,

Any ideas for a gas stove/oven unit where sometimes the stove burners won't light (there is no clicking noise when this happens)?

Sometimes it works fine, and then it'll just stop for a while and we have to light all the burners [more]
