Agreed.

The devil is in the details of the almost 500 page document the Senators got yesterday afternoon to vote on later. You can be sure the Senators did not have time to read much of it in the time available, so they do not know or

Re: Tax Reform and BRK

I said the corporate tax cut didn’t have anything to do with Berkshire’s “actually business”, but that wasn’t clear. Like others have posted, I think the increase in the deferred tax liability is a one time accounting change that doesn’t increase [more]

Re: Tax Reform and BRK

Wait, so some here actually believe this bill is actually good for the middle class long term? I’m saying “middle class” are folks earning $50-75k (not the $200k-$450k figures I’ve heard some republicans use, maybe jokingly, but hell maybe that is [more]

Re: Tax Reform and BRK

This “tax cut” bill is nothing more than a payback for big GOP donors and has nothing to do with the actual business of Berkshire, so maybe that’s the reason folks are not chattering about it?

Don’t get me wrong—- I understand the bill will [more]

Re: How to invest when you have enough in retire

I think I have a high amount of cash as a percentage of my portfolio right now, but maybe not so high when adjusting for sequence risk.

Re: How to invest when you have enough in retire

My total expenses (Including FED and STATE taxes) have tripled over the past 14+ years and I expect them to continue growing in the future

Damn. That is pretty sobering. Tripled in 14 years seems like pretty extreme inflation-- [more]

Re: Can we cross off retail?

I also think Amazon as the retail killer is overblown. I blame retail's struggle in the US on our stretched and struggling middle class.

Re: OT: Human written company news

Jim,

It looks like, from a Morningstar chart I looked at, that NAV and price last converged in December 2016, and also January 2015, around August 2015, etc. So it looks like price and NAV do come together fairly often? If so, then the 16% [more]

Re: OT: Death By Amazon

Does Amazon have the deep bench to thrive and survive after Bezos is gone? Their business model seems to rely on aggressive innovation and targeting of new opportunities/victims, and from what I read Bezos is the main driver of this.
