Re: Todd and Ted

There’s absolutely zero concern about economic harm caused by 2 individuals managing a small chunk of the stock-only portfolio... 2 points better or 2 points worse than the S&P 500. Zero concern. Who cares? Very little impact on bottom [more]

Re: Todd and Ted

Didn’t like the Todd & Ted answer one bit.

When they were beating the S&P 500 early on out of the gate in their respective tenures with Berkshire, Buffett was gloating about their performance—citing numbers—and talking about earned [more]

Re: Disappointment

“I could see a 1-time dividend of cash in excess of $100 Billion. Honestly wouldn’t thrill me, but...”.

Grammar matters lol. That would be the cash at Berkshire that exceeds $100 Billion. Not a dividend payment of over $100 Billion :)

A sobering reality in a world with high prices across asset classes: government cash money markets at 1%, rising each week and fully safe & with optionality....is much more attractive than bonds at 2 or 3%. Berkshire’s behavior makes a lot of [more]

Re: BRK Equity Portfolio Observations

Warren has NOT been a net seller of equities. He’s been...slightly... a net buyer.

Cash is coming in faster than he chooses to fully deploy it. Nice problem.

Meanwhile, government cash money rates are rising daily..now over 1% and [more]

Re: Harvey Auto Losses

I think my $500 million estimate may actually be pretty good. An Insurance Industry analyst just quoted an estimate of $494 million at GEICO.

Re: Harvey Auto Losses

Listening to Buffett's comments regarding GEICO exposure and potential losses regarding Harvey...and guesstimating a generous cost-per-vehicle...I'd ballpark about a $500 million loss for Berkshire's GEICO subsidiary.

Having [more]

What is GEICO up to?

GEICO has become ultra aggressive in pricing for market share grabs. I wonder why and what's going on here.

Re: Buffett and BAC

Sure, but even allowing for the preference of the Preferred..it would represent only 5/17ths of Berkshire's total BAC exposure if he kept it. And even then it would be an issue for less than four years.

Re: Buffett and BAC

I don't think so. Banks got the go-ahead this week to be able to distribute more capital. Something they've wanted to do for some time. Regulators gave the go-ahead, and BACs move was in-line with other large banks. All of the banks moved [more]
