Re: speaking of passwords

I don't see why they would be. Dashes are fine in passwords for most sites. Occasionally I'll run into a site that alphanumeric only (no symbols), but that's fairly rare.

Re: 1 Password - other than passwords

1Password can store your passwords in DropBox or iCloud, for synchronization between devices. If you store them in DropBox, you can also access them any web browser on any device. To do that, you need to know both your DropBox and 1Password vault [more]

Re: Disqualifying Disposition of ISO

Almost right. There's the ordinary income, reported on the W-2, for the difference between the strike price and the price at the time the option is exercised.

There's also the 1099 gain (or loss) on the difference in the stock price between [more]

Re: HP Printer irritations..

A switch poles all ports sequentially whether there is traffic or not. But a Router does not pole inactive connections. (At that is how a real geek explained it to me.)

Either you misunderstood the geek or he wasn't one (a true geek, [more]

Re: HP Printer irritations..

You probably know this, but using the router's ports should give you faster connections.

Faster connections than what? In almost all cases, the speed of any ethernet switch you're likely to have will be faster than your actual [more]

Didn't know that. Then she'll need an Ethernet hub.

Actually, an Ethernet Switch. I'm not sure anyone makes hubs anymore.

I usually get TrendNet when I'm looking for inexpensive switches.

Are you sharing a single iCloud account? If so, it's probably the new Continuity feature.

Re: Seems like a legit complaint

Another choice would be to allow "hidden" folders. Then you could simply create a hidden folder and put the apps that you don't want to see into it. And in Settings, there would be a setting called "Show hidden folders ... [more]

I never meant to definitively state you could not download alternate browsers. I don't profess to be an expert on that litigation, as you seem to be. The "lay person" understanding of that suit was that Microsoft was forcing people to use [more]

Huh. I remember a company in Redmond making that exact same argument back in 1998...

Seriously? You don't think there's a little difference between "can't delete" and "forced to use"?

Re: Seems like a legit complaint

Point being that I feel like there are plenty of solutions to these common complaints. The bottom line is that you can't delete them because they don't want you to be able to...it would be possible to allow it.

Why not just allow people to delete it?

There's really only two choices - included it with iOS, or make it an optional download from the App Store. If you included it with the OS, then you can't let it be deleted because the only way [more]
