Re: OT: Mind-blowing expectations

Oof, a 100+ post thread is long even for your regularly scheduled Amazon bashing at the BRK board.

After seeing about a decade of back-of-the-envelope calculations showing how AMZN is over valued by about a factor three, only to see it it [more]

Re: All is not rose gold in Apple Stores

My personal experience is when you know what you want to buy, it’s pretty fast. Doesn’t matter if it’s something small or a 27” iMac, service is generally good and fast.

If you need a repair however, it’s a totally different story. For [more]

Re: OT:Disney

I know it’s a popular pastime to consider who BRK could buy next. Somehow I couldn’t quite picture them taking on Disney, but wasn’t immediately sure why not. I guess it’s because it’s not a simple business model with a management you can just leave [more]

Re: Beginning of the end of healthcare as we know it

While I certainly think the US healthcare system could use some changes, many of the problems lay outside the realm of the insurer and/or provider. So it’s not so sure what they could do different from, say, Kaiser Permanente, and cause healthcare to [more]

Someone once told me he once returned a bag of grapes. He had already opened it and eaten a good amount. The return was accepted, no questions asked. When he pressed himself, out of curiosity, he was told food returns are all accepted as long as at [more]

LOL. You couldn’t have made his point better. Two year AppleCare for the iPad mini would be the price of the Kindle Fire + warranty.

Thing is, people keep going on about an impending lack of qualified pilots, and how loaded the airways and airports are.

Who are those ‘people’?

I heard the complete opposite. There are more pilots than airlines need, so [more]

Re: Apple still tends to dominate the market

Apple plans that in 2018 the sale of AirPods will double and exceed $4 billion.

That’s 25M AirPods. I find that very hard to believe. Some analyst’s wild guess, maybe. Show me real sales data.

CAPS Outperform Pitch

VMW Outperform

Network virtualization is going to do for physical networks, what virtual machines did for physical computers. Betting on VMware’s NSX product as the next big thing in cloud infrastructure.

I have seen articles with alarming statements about the power requirements of [more]

Re: 3 Top Cloud Computing Stocks to Buy Now

It seems to me TMF has a bit of a narrow definition of ‘cloud’. Dell should probably be listed at the top, as majority shareholder in EMC and VMware. VMware alone just reported $2B in revenue this quarter, which is nearly all cloud products. EMC [more]

Re: Less-OT: Berkshire and Future Vehicles

One camp thinks that we need vehicle-to-vehicle communications. For example to warn of conditions ahead and allow sooner braking. Thus also allow more packed tail gate driving, etc.

That doesn’t even need to be vehicle-to-vehicle. [more]
