This has been my point for years: most people advocating for action on AGW are political animals.

Re: Are we at the bottom of stupidity yet?

The problem is that stupid people don't realise that they are stupid.

What does that make you then?

It doesn't necessarily make me anything. You seem to be applying affirmation of the consequent.

Like the findings of Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen who found the Northwest Passage open in 1903 - meaning we have more ice today at the Arctic than in 1903.

There is not enough energy in this range to cause global warming.

It's the peak of the infrared output. I explained this and it's evident in the link.

Science doesn't choose hypotheses based upon consensus. Science doesn't promote a hypothesis to a theory based upon consensus. Science doesn't substitute consensus for experimental confirmation. Consensus changes over time.

Re: How to imagine cooling in a warming Arctic

It occurred to me that decreasing sea ice would let more heat escape from the ocean

Ocean absorbs more heat than ice so that's another factor. Melting ice also releases latent heat. I'm not sure how this all fits together.

Re: How Much CO2 In The Atmosphere?

CO2 absorbs IR between 15 and 20 micrometers

It's a bit wider than that but close enough. There are also other absorption bands depending molecular modes being excited.

Earth radiates IR between roughly 8.5 and 14.5 [more]
