Index funds with minimal costs are good of course. We did all kinds of funds in the beginning, all at the behest of our financial adviser.

The adviser did very well, us not so much.

S&P 500 index sure.

Also, when I think of the term maximizing shareholder value I think of Icahn...esque buy and pillage routine, that destroys on going concerns. So I agree that is not what BRK sees as it mission.

Almost everything?

He used to avoid companies that needed lots of capx. Now that doesn't seem to matter. He used to buy companies and then let them continue running exactly the way they had been run before he bought them. Now, not so much. [more]

Just a small point... Fidelity gets paid for order flow. They get paid by non IEX entities like perhaps, BATS to pump up Fidelity's bottom line. If Fidelity's clients' trades get legally front run... then, oh well.
