An Interview with CMFMutwa

Last updated: 3/11/2018
The Fool:
What, in your opinion, are some of life's big mysteries?
The tyranny of inanimate objects.
The Fool:
In what way would society be different if bears had become the dominant sentient species?
Starbucks would serve 50 different flavors of honey made by 3 species of bees. (There are 3 honey-providing species in Africa, and hives near coffee plantations yield delicious honey! And the bees feel an extra buzz, too!)

My moniker

The Batwa (singular: Mutwa, thus CMFMutwa) are a pygmy group that live in SW Uganda. Historically, they were jesters and bards in the courts of African kings. That makes Mutwa go well with the Fool theme. I am a long term volunteer working with them in culture and linguistics, especially their narrative tradition. I am in the second of a three year assignment. My avatar is a picture of one of my friends. He recently received a rabbit, which he is breeding. I am also associated with a hospital (Bwindi Community Hospital), a project (Batwa Development Project), and a foundation (

How I Invest

My Lincoln 403B has certain percentages assigned to various mutual funds with annual rebalancing. I have a Vanguard variable annuity, 100% assigned to an REIT mutual fund. I have various IRAs and an after-tax account, with buckets representing Pro, SA, and II ports. A final chunk of retirement cash is in a short to intermediate term bond fund (BCOIX).
