BreakerBeth

Beth Nichols

Beth is an entrepreneur, writer/editor and marketing researcher. She started her first successful business at the age of 23, has raised two great kids and recently realized her lifelong aspiration of returning to school and completing a Master's degree in social sciences. As an investor, Beth enjoys watching the "story" of an investment unfold, and in true Foolish style knows that the market will almost always do the right thing for the right company over time. The best encouragement she gives to new investor is this: "Be patient, ask questions and make choices that allow you to sleep at night. If I can do it, so can you!"

An Interview with BreakerBeth

Last updated: 7/15/2008
The Fool:
Your greatest fear? Any neurotic ones (agoraphobia, triskaidekaphobia, etc.)?
BreakerBeth:
Bears. And not the investing kind. Was an avid backpacker until a bear raided our camp one night . . . and spent the night 15 feet from my tent eating all our food . . . as I shivered underneath my sleeping back (reasoning that if it crashed into the tent, at least I could run instead of hop). Nope, never want to sleep far into the woods again.
The Fool:
What's the most overrated idea, person, or event in our culture?
BreakerBeth:
The most overrated idea/person is the politician. We want our politicians to be superhuman, yet every election cycle we stand by and cheer as they get reduced to subhuman. Wacky, if you ask me.
The Fool:
What's your favorite movie, and why?
BreakerBeth:
Two favorites:

1. Young Frankenstein. Brilliant. Quotable. Part of my family culture.

2. Saving Grace, (the foreign film one with Brenda Blethyn). Quirky. Story of a strong woman's triumph over dire circumstances. Hillarious. Corn Flakes scene is arguably one of the funniest moments in movie history.
