Re: 2 deg - how the world failed on climate chan

But since then, cheap natural gas and a boom in wind power [thanks to the PTC] have driven down electricity prices, eroding nuclear power's profits.

I'd be happy to ditch the wind PTC and other energy subsidies in exchange for a [more]

Re: 2 deg - how the world failed on climate chan

Conservationists have been trying to meet the right wing halfway forever on this issuee. Cap and trade was a conservative idea that we embraced. A carbon tax is a conservative idea. But now, apparently, denying science is the "conservative" [more]

What exactly do we gain by building Keystone besides a massive spigot for the dirtiest, most carbon-intensive oil on Earth? I really have trouble seeing that as part of the solution.

35 years and billions of dollars later and we're essentially at the same conclusion...

One big difference is that since 1979 then we've observed the predicted global warming, even though the sun measurably dimmed since then.

The choice of comparisons is telling - the above compares the most expensive coal plants with the best wind power. What happens if you have a modern coal plant with nearly full pollution controls with average-sited wind power - in other words, the [more]
